Friends,

I apologize for completely skipping most of December and January as far as newsletter coverage, but I would still like to send my best Christmas and New Year wishes to all of you anyway!

I would also like to invite you to join me on Friday, January 30 from 4:00-7:00pm for the a Final-Glance Friday meet-the-artist event to capsulate my show at the Riverside Coffee Mill.  I know many of you have already stopped in, for which I am very grateful.  The show has received a great deal of attention in the local newspapers and it seems to be the buzz around town.  If you're available, I would love to see you there! [Map]

--- Mention this newsletter or bring it with you to the meet and greet and receive a matted 4x6 photo free with the purchase of any larger print or a free matted 8x12 print with the purchase of any framed piece. ---

Looking ahead to February, I will be displaying at the Miami Township Civic Center's Art Sampler on the 8th from 1:00-4:00pm.  The address is: 6101 Meijer Drive, Milford, OH

If you know of any other worthwhile shows around town please let me know!--If you own a business or are hosting a social gathering in the next few months and are looking for talking pieces, I would love to arrange a private showing or something of that nature.

And now, finally, for some newly finished pieces... [Can't see 'em? Click Here]

The piece above has an interesting story I'm planning on telling at my summer shows.  I imagine people who view many of my pieces are taken back by the depth, detail, and color of them--not your typical photographs.  So, this summer I will be asking these curious folks which piece they think had been edited the most.  I am almost certain they will never point to this one, but the fact is that this particular photo is entirely fabricated.  First, this creekbed does not exist--it is one side of a creekbed mirrored to help create symmetry and lure the eyes onto the bridge.  Secondly, the bridge and the rocks in the foreground were lifted from a photo I took earlier that day from an entirely different location.  The shadows cast on to the bridge were drawn in. The perfect sky in the background was painted in.  The color has been dramatized.  I spent quite a bit of time over a a several day period to complete the edit.  So, would you have been fooled?

This panoramic photo is really just a sample of what is yet to come.  I have been equipping  myself (slowly...) with the best tools out there so I can take some stellar panoramas without any inconsistant distortion errors--they call it parallax.  The photo pictured above is actually comprised of 65 (sixty-five) separate, full-resolution photos and has a viewing angle of over 200 degrees!  Below is an example similar to that above with one photo left out of the "puzzle" just so you can get an idea of how this works.  I don't yet have the full version of the software, so I am unable to print these yet, but it is on my short-list... so anticipate seeing more of these...

Notice how you can almost see both ends of the guardrail; this photo has a viewing angle of about 180 degrees.

This is the 3-D model of the show tent project a local inventor and I are working on.  He has chosen to help me out by providing a unique structure to display my work (we're considering using projections onto the walls), and it will serve as a prototype for his even more grand structures.  Very cool stuff we've been going over.  Stay tuned for more on this one!

I will soon have a few of my pieces in a gallery in Hyde Park, more details to follow on that as well!

Thanks again to everyone who replied back and/or forwarded last month's newsletter!  If you have friends who may enjoy seeing it, please pass this newsletter on to them.  If you are receiving this edition from a friend... I want to hear your thoughts as well!  You can also get your email address on my distribution list so you don't ever have to miss a beat... just visit my "Request Newsletter" page to sign up for it.
